Choosing cameras: the right model in the right place.

Range of cameras and equipment

A successful installation does not start with choosing a brand, but with a simple question: what do I want to see, and what should happen when I see it? This guide helps you match each location to the right type of camera.

1. Start from locations, not cameras

Walk around the site and list the sensitive points: gate, pedestrian access, facades, parking, stockroom, cash desk, fence. For each one, note what you want to achieve: detect a presence, recognize a person or vehicle, or deter.

2. The right type for each use

TypeWhereWhy
DomeIndoors, entrances, under canopiesDiscreet, impact-resistant, wide angle
TurretFacades, corridorsGood night vision, no glare
BulletGates, parking lots, long drivewaysLong range, visible and therefore a deterrent
DeterrenceWalls, rear access, storefrontsBuilt-in speaker and flash
PTZLarge grounds, yardsZoom and automatic tracking
ThermalFences, unlit areasDetects a person in total darkness
4G solar mastConstruction sites, farmsNo electricity or internet needed

3. AI changes the game

A "classic" camera records. An AI camera understands: it tells a person from a cat or headlights, and triggers an action. That is what reduces false alarms and deters in real time, instead of discovering an incident the next day.

Good to knowReliable detection needs a good angle: a camera mounted too high or tilted too far sees shapes, not people. Our technicians validate the angle of every camera, day and night.

4. Plan for connectivity and power

Without network or power, the best camera is useless. Plan a backup 4G connection, a battery to last through an outage overnight, and local recording in the camera or in an Axia Edge box.

5. Respect the people on camera

Film your site, not the street or your neighbors. Inform people with clear signage, limit retention time, and never place a camera in a private space. CNDP formalities are part of an Axia installation.

In summary

  • Start from locations and the expected action
  • Choose the camera type by use, not by brand
  • Favor AI to detect and deter
  • Secure connectivity, power and local recording
